We believe that education should be about authentic preparation for life in an real-world environment.
To be ready for life, students need to practice life. They need to learn by practicing the skills, ideas, and habits that they will need to thrive in life beyond the test, beyond high school, beyond college. The idea that students should learn by doing and should be active in their own education has been the foundation for the LifePractice project based learning model.
The LifePracticePBL model, takes Project/Problem-Based Learning to the next level by integrating core content with technology and a 21st Century environment. With our PBL recipe cards in hand or after attending innovative learning studios held at your location or at our center in Hutchinson, Kansas, K12 educators are ready to engage learners with authentic collaboration, problem-solving, and developing real-world skills and habits. These are the very same college and career components that the Common Core is pushing. While this is not a one-size-fits-all, "magic-pill" approach, our LifePracticePBL cards are flexible enough to enable everyday classroom educators to make decisions that fit their learner communities. Yet they are still structured enough to allow for rigorous academic standards and mastery of soft skills. Educators from kindergarten to high school are able to implement engaging lessons within their desired content areas, as well as integrate cross-curricular lessons with these cards.
Once a teacher has decided to implement a project, there are some non-negotiables that we recommend. These details are the components, well thought out and purposefully implemented, that will help set teachers and students up for success. In our training, each step of project is outlined, from the beginning Prep stage to the Post-project Wrap-up, with participants experiencing each component of each step.
